Recipes Ham and Cheese Open-Faced Sandwich with Chocolate Sauce
Celebrate the holiday season with a delightful dish featuring Jones Dairy Farm All-Natural Uncured Hickory Smoked Ham. The ham and cheese open-faced sandwich drizzled with a rich chocolate and balsamic vinegar sauce adding a touch of elegance.
Ham and Cheese Open-Faced Sandwich with Chocolate Sauce
Servings: 415 minutes
- 250g Jones Dairy Farm Hickory Smoked Ham
- 150g Camembert or Brie Cheese
- 2 leaves of kale (or your preferred leafy greens)
- A. 1 tablespoon olive oil
- A. 1/2 tablespoon white wine vinegar or vinegar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tomato
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 baguette
Sauce
- 4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons red wine
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 20g dark chocolate
- 1/2 tablespoon of butter
- Salt to taste
- Pink peppercorn, a pinch
- 1Tear kale into bite size pieces and toss in (A) olive oil and vinegar mixture.
- 2Make the sauce: in a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar, red wine, and honey. Bring it to a boil, then simmer for about 1 minute. Remove from heat and add chocolate and butter. Stirring constantly. Season with salt to taste.
- 3Slice the Hickory Smoked Ham thinly.
- 4Slice the baguette in half horizontally, spread butter, and toast. Rub the cut side of garlic on the cut surface of the baguette.
- 5Cut the Camembert cheese into 1cm wide slices and arrange them on the baguette. Use a kitchen torch to lightly brown the surface of the cheese. (Alternatively, you can broil in oven.)
- 6Place the prepared kale on top of the baguette, followed by sliced tomatoes. Arrange the Hickory Smoked Ham on top evenly.
- 7Drizzle the sauce over the dish and sprinkle with pink peppercorns.
