Recipes Canadian Bacon Chirashi Sushi

This Chirashi Sushi made with Jones’s All-Natural Uncured Canadian Bacon is perfect for celebrating Hinamatsuri, a traditional Japanese festival, also known as Girl’s Day held on March 3rd. This colorful and adorable chirashi sushi adds a festive touch to birthdays and special occasions.

Canadian Bacon Chirashi Sushi
4 servings30 minutes

  • 6 slices Jones Dairy Farm Canadian Bacon
  • 2 cups rice
  • 3 tablespoons sushi/rice vinegar
  • 3 cucumbers
  • 1 tablespoon sushi vinegar (for cucumbers)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted white sesame seeds
  • 3 eggs
  • A. 1 tablespoon sugar (for eggs)
  • A. 1 teaspoon white dashi (for eggs)
  • 4 colorful cherry tomatoes
  • 2 radishes
  • 1/2 bunch nanohana (rapeseed blossom)
  • 2 kumquats
  • 8 small boiled shrimp
  • 100 grams sashimi-grade salmon
  • B. 1 tablespoon soy sauce (for salmon)
  • B. 1/2 tablespoon mirin (for salmon)
  • A small amount of dill
  • 1Cut the vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
  • 2カTrim the tough parts of the chrysanthemum and blanch them in salted water. Squeeze out the excess water.
  • 3Boil the cucumbers for about 20 seconds, then drain and marinate them in sushi vinegar.
  • 4Cut the salmon into bite-sized pieces and marinate in the (B) mixture.
  • 5Cut half of the Canadian bacon into flower shapes and slice the remaining half into 6 pieces.
  • 6Finely chop the marinated cucumbers and mix them with warm rice. Add sushi vinegar and toasted white sesame seeds, then mix well.
  • 7Combine (A) and mix in with the eggs, and make scrambled eggs.
  • 8Serve the rice on a platter and top it with the prepared ingredients, balancing them well.
